Stella: A Winning Combination

Stella

Three years ago, Dan L and I visited Gunsite Academy for a Levergun class. We took along Sheila Larsson's Marlin 44 she had named "Stella" (She names all her guns). Over the course of three days, approximately 500 rounds were fired through Stella. She was an instant hit!

Who is Stella? Stella is a Marlin 1894, 20" Octagon barrel 44 Magnum fit with a BLACK GOLD Skinner EXPRESS sight, Blue Dovetail Slot Blank, and an orange fiber optic front sight. This is a winning combination.

Gunsite Instructor Ed Head asked if we would watch for a similar rifle and indicated he would like a "Trapper" length if possible. Sheila and I found one, cut it back to 16 1/2", and set it up with Skinner EXPRESS sights. Ed looked at Sheila and said, "Does it have a name?” "Spartacus" she said.

Bobby Tyler (of Tyler Gun Works fame, requested Stella and Spartacus to visit at his shop in Texas. The visit was spectacular and they returned adorned in beautiful case colors, tasteful engraving, and their names engraved on the receivers. They got together again @gunsite and began to spawn offspring.

The two others shown are the most recent children. "Valkyrie" and “Lucrezia”.

I'm told there are several other siblings we have not met yet. Maybe someday we can get them all together for a family portrait.
