BARREL MOUNTED DOVETAIL SIGHT

Our SOLID BRASS Sights look beautiful with the Golden Brass Receivers featured on many Henry Repeating Arms rifles. 

The BLUE sights look great on ALL the Henry Guns!

With a barrel mounted peep sight you dont need to worry about where the front sight is in the " notch".  Just look through the aperture and put the front sight on the target.

THE Skinner "RIMFIRE" Groove Sight

This sight looks GREAT on your .22 and 17 HMR Henry Rifles (MODELS WITH GROOVES ON TOP OF THE RECEIVER.)  Mounted on the receiver putting the peep closer to your eye.

Mounting Instructions:  Remove your existing barrel mounted rear sight (using a brass punch ) and replace it with a dovetail blank.  On octagon barreled models there may be two threaded holes underneath the factory rear sight.  Fill those holes with two 8-40 Fill Screws. 

Loosen the rear "pinch" screw on the Skinner RIMFIRE sight and slide it carefully onto the top receiver "GROOVES" from the rear of the receiver.  Set in desired position and tighten the rear "pinch" screw enough to keep the sight from sliding.

Adjust windage by loosening the top set screw and gently tapping (wooden dowel or brass punch) right and left.  Once proper windage has been achieved, re-tighten the set screw.

Elevation is adjusted by loosening the set screw on the right side and threading the aperture stem up and down in 1/2 turn increments.  Re-tighten set screw.

You will most likely need a taller Front Sight.  See our front sight/ramp/barrel band combo dovetailing service listed below.

On Octagonal barrel models, use one of our 1/2" .650" barrel mounted front sight and "trim" to the exact height you need while actually shooting on paper.  Touch up with Skinner BLUE and you are ready to go!

      which will fit the drilled and tapped holes found on the 
           Large Frame  30-30 Model Henry Rifles.

 HENRY FRONT SIGHT/BARREL BAND MODIFICATION


If you have tried adding a receiver sight (or needed a different front sight) to a Henry Repeating Arms Rimfire round barrel lever action rifle, you may have discovered that the one piece front sight/ramp/barrel band combo leaves very few options for a change.


Skinner Sights offers a modification to the STEEL (not the former plastic) front sight/ramp/band combos that will allow mounting the front sight of your choice.

We will dovetail the sight ramp with a standard 3/8" dovetail and Hot Blue the assembly for $25.  If you want a Skinner Patridge Front sight installed, we can do that also and ship it back to you assembled.

Send me the Sight/Ramp/Band Assembly and a check for the $25 plus $7 return shipping and allow two weeks turn around time. Be sure to pack it well and include the mounting screws. 










         (For a fitted Skinner Patridge front sight add $20 for Blue and $22 for Brass)

(Front sight hood will still fit with this modification but the distance from the top of a taller front sight to the hood will of course be smaller)

                   HENRY Model 1860 Repeating Rifles
      (And reproductions made by Uberti and imported by Navy Arms and Taylor Arms.)



This sight mounts in the existing factory dovetail with no modifications to the firearm.  The aperture is bright and clear to the eye.  We supply this sight with a .155" (X Large) peep to accomodate the wide factory front sight of the 1860 Rifle.





I have been shooting this exact sight (as pictured) on my own 1860 Henry Rifle (44-40) and accuracy is amazing!  The sight picture is quick to acquire.  Just look through the peep and focus on the front sight.  Machined from solid 360 brass bar stock this sight looks like it could have been installed during the Civil War.  (If Skinner Sights had been present during that era, we would have made sure they were!)
